The knights and Ladies of St Mulumba,St Mary’s Subcouncil, have concluded a weeklong retreat at the Subcouncil chapel at St Mary’s Catholic church,Onitsha Inland Town.
During the retreat,a resource person,Rev Fr Fidelis Kelechi who stood in for the chaplain of the Subcouncil,Very Rev Monsignor Theophilus Odukwe, delivered a lecture titled,”God Never Comes Late”.
Fr Kelechi said that what some christians assume to be lateness in the eyes of man,may not be so in the eyes of God.
According to him, even death is not something good for the faithful but that it is good for God because it is a transition to ever lasting life.
The ups and downs of life he said, are part of existence.
He pointed out that as children of God,the trials of life are meant to fortify the faithful and prepare then to face realities of life.
A child of God he maintained, experiences good or bad things in life but does not mean that God has abandoned him or does not exist.
Fr Kelechi cited instance with the Biblical Lazarus who died and there was no hope of rising from death but that Jesus Christ brought him back to life, affirming that actually, God’s plan for man can never be late.
The Grand Knight of the Subcouncil Sir Chike Nwagbologu and other members of the Subcouncil expressed gratitude to the chaplain of the Subcouncil,Monsignor Theophilus Odukwe for hosting the Knights and Ladies to a sumptuous refreshment of body and soul and also the resource person,fr Kelechi for his incisive lecture.
The seminar featured confession and question and answer sessions.
