The knights and ladies of St Mulumba,St Michael Sub-council,Fegge,Onitsha,last Saturday hosted His Eminence,Francis Cardinal Arinze who came calling at the Subcouncil temple located at St Jude Parish,Fegge Onitsha.
The visit was part of the sub-council’s activities marking their Founders Day,Rev Fr Abraham Anselm Ojefua.
It was a joyous moment for the knights and ladies of the Subcouncil led by their Worthy Grand Knight,Sir(Barr) Charles Orakwue,their Worthy Chaplain Rev Fr Clement Ugochukwu Obi and the lady President,Sister Florence Edokwe.
In their welcome address,the knights and ladies expressed appreciation to God for the gift of the Cardinal to the church and humanity at large.
The knights and ladies while expressing their feelings of excitement said it was the first of it’s kind hosting a cardinal of great repute adding that it was a blessing of immense value.
Earlier in his homily during a mass he celebrated for the knights and ladies,His Eminence,Cardinal Arinze commended the knights and ladies for their positive contributions towards the growth of the church.
According to the Cardinal,the knights of St Mulumba have distinguished themselves in their lay Apostolate as soldiers of Christ and in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Cardinal narrated a story how he visited Uganda,the birthplace of their (KSM) patron saint,Mathias Kalemba Mulumba and how the people of Uganda were pleased by the positive contributions of the knights and ladies of St Mulumba towards the growth of the church as well as prominence of St Mulumba.
He urged the knights and ladies to continue in the footsteps and spirit of their founder,Rev Fr Anselm Ojefua and ensure that the values and principles of the church do not leave the Order.
The Cardinal also called on the knights to use their positions to promote the cause of canonisation of good christians who lived among them.
In his brief remark,the Worthy Grand Knight of KSM,St Michael Subcouncil,Fegge,Onitsha,Sir,(Barr)Charles Orakwue,thanked the Cardinal for finding time to visit,pointing out that his visit was historic and a blessing to the Subcouncil members.
Also speaking,the chaplain of the Subcouncil,Rev Fr Clement Ugochukwu Obi expressed joy on the Cardinal’s visit adding the Subcouncil was richly blessed by the visit.
He promised that the entire members of the Subcouncil will continue to pray for God’s protection and good health on the Cardinal.
The knights and ladies presented gifts to the Cardinal and also asked the cardinal various questions concerning the church which the Cardinal replied brilliantly and satisfactorily.
