People of Agulu in the Anaocha LGA of Anambra today gathered at the town’s civic centre to declare endorsement and total support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the LP senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Victor Umeh OFR (Ohamadike Ndigbo), alongside the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka (ADN) federal constituency, Hon. George Ozodinobi (Ajaja Nze), and the LP Candidate for Anaocha I, Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi.
The event, which had the entire political stakeholders in Agulu in attendance, also witnessed the presence of the traditional ruler of Agulu, HRH Igwe Innocent Obodoakor; the traditional prime minister (onowu) of Agulu, Chief Paulinus Aniagboso (Isimmili); Hon. JohnMary Ibeka (Ọnụ n’ekwulu Igbo); Hon. Silas Ejeabocha; Chief Nathaniel Anigbo (Atụ Agulu); Professor J. Ogbuagu; Chief Franklin Anazodo; and Chief Dan Ogbuefi (Ide Agulu), among numerous others.
While the various speakers emphasised the need for ndị Agulu to give total support to Mr Peter Obi and the LP in the coming general elections, Igwe Innocent Obodoakor on behalf of the community declared the endorsement of all LP candidates.
The monarch expressed delight with the overwhelming support Mr Peter Obi’s candidacy has garnered in all parts of the country and prayed for God’s grace to continue to lead the OBIdient movement/LP candidates to victory in the elections.
Igwe Obodoakor further declared it a taboo for anybody in Agulu to cast his or her vote for any other political party other than the LP. He also called on people of the ten communities in Anaocha and ndị Igbo in general to also embrace the LP as it has given the South-East the opportunity to produce the presidential candidate and prospectively, the best president of Nigeria. He noted that the OBIdient movement is a divine movement that cannot be wished away nor disconcerted by political opposition. He further noted that other political parties and their candidates have been disoriented by the momentum of the OBIdient movement and Peter Obi’s intellectual disposition.
Agulu people through the respective speakers commended Senator Victor Umeh in particular for his significant support and show of solidarity for Mr Peter Obi and the LP in Anambra State, stressing that his clout and resourcefulness had been a strong support for the party in the state in spite of the oppression of the opposition.
The high point of the event was the collapsing of PDP, APC and APGA structures in Agulu Town into the LP. The PDP group was led the PDP chairman of the Anaocha LGA Chapter, Hon. Ifeanyi Orji, and the chairman of the PDP’s Agulu Ward II, Mr Charles Chukwudebelu, while the APC decampees were led by the local government secretary of the party, Comrd. Nonso Ezeani, and the APGA defectors were led by Ichie Ezeani Abana.
While dumping their respective parties and being admitted into the LP by the LP’s state chairman, Mr Ugochukwu Emeh, the decampees noted that the LP had the best candidates for the presidential, Senate and House of Representatives elections, as well as the House of Assembly elections, and therefore vowed to employ their political influence and structures to ensure the party won the coming elections convincingly.
