Over 100 students of the College of Nursing Sciences St. Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital Onitsha matriculated at the institution’s 7th matriculation ceremony held on October 18, 2025. The event was graced by the Proprietor of the College, Most Reverend Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke, government functionaries, and other dignitaries.
The ceremony began with a Homily Mass presided over by Archbishop Okeke. In his homily, the prelate tasked the matriculating students to maintain discipline, see human beings as the image of God, and shun laxity and lackadaisical attitude throughout their studies. He also charged them to uphold the culture of excellence that the college is known for and to always express gratitude to God.
Representing the Proprietor, Very Reverend Father Dr. Basil Ekwuife, Coordinator of Health Services of Onitsha Archdiocese, declared the 7th matriculation open. He urged the newly admitted students to strive for excellence in education, be disciplined, and recognize that nursing is a noble profession that requires discipline and commitment.
The Provost of the College, Mrs. Therese Aniedu Obi-Odunukwe, welcomed the students and highlighted the college’s commitment to producing competent, compassionate, and globally competitive nursing professionals.
The Administrator of the College, Rev. Father Fidelis Chukwunonso Nwanze, expressed satisfaction with the college’s progress and appreciated Archbishop Okeke for his support. He advised the students to take their studies seriously and pledged that the college would continue to produce disciplined and excellent nurses.
Two of the matriculants, Mr. Jude Aniebue and Miss Nancy Okoli, expressed their joy and gratitude for being admitted to the college and promised to be obedient to constituted authority.
The event featured a Holy Mass, thanksgiving, capping, oath-taking, and dances, among other things.
