The Justice, Development,Peace/Caritas (JDPC) Archdiocese of Onitsha has berated members of the national assembly for directly or indirectly mocking poor Nigerian citizens with fabulous salaries and other “unmerited entitlements”.
A statement released by the commission and signed by the Executive Director,Rev Fr Edwin Udoye,it pointed out that while the law makers literally roll on fat entitlementsms appropriated to themselves, many poor families across the country cannot feed themselves nor make both ends meet.
Fr Udoye urged the senators to reduce their bloated salaries and allowances and make laws that would guarantee food on the table of the masses.
He called for a reduction of the number of law makers in the legislature and also for a review of membership of the houses of assembly to be on part time basis inorder to reduce cost of governance.
