The Justice, Development,Peace and Caritas(JDPC) Archdiocese of Onitsha,has concluded a sensitization campaign on the dangers of drug abuse in some secondary schools across the Archdiocese.
A statement released by the Executive Director of JDPC, Archdiocese of Onitsha Very Rev Fr Dr Edwin Udoye said the excercise lasted between March 7th to 5th May 2023 at various secondary schools namely, Washington Memorial secondary school,Prince Memorial High school,Onitsha,St Lwanga International school,Okpoko,GTC Onitsha and Onitsha High School.
According to the statement,the goal of the project was to contribute to reduction of drug addiction among the youth in Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province covering Anambra,Ebonyi and Enugu states by increasing awareness and knowledge of the youths of the danger and effect of drug abuse.
On the concluding part,there was formation of a “No to drugs and Yes to Safety”(N-DAYS Ambassadors)where some students and teachers were selected to continue keeping alive the objective of the project after the project’s exit.
Packets of excercise books were given to each school,with pictures of “No to drugs abuse” crest at the front,inside cover and back cover of each book.
The statement disclosed that Caritas Nigeria provided fund through JDPC Onitsha Province while JDPC Onitsha facilitated the activity.
