Archbishop Heerey Technical College, Ogidi, has achieved another milestone with the development of a digital wallet by its students. The innovative card aims to ease the stress of carrying physical cash.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Onyebuchi Nwadimkpa, the school principal, disclosed this to Trinitas Newspaper’s correspondent. He explained that the digital wallet will enable students to manage their pocket money efficiently, eliminating the need for cash.
“With this card, students can purchase books from the school bookstore and make other transactions within the premises without using physical cash,” Fr. Nwadimkpa said. “This innovation will put an end to cases of money theft among students.”
The digital wallet has been successfully test-run and is functioning well. The principal plans to extend this innovation to other schools, institutions, and organizations.
According to the principal, Archbishop Heerey Technical College Ogidi is one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing technical colleges, thanks to its proprietor, His Grace Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province.
Fr. Nwadimkpa attributed the college’s excellence to its quality and experienced teachers. “Recently, one of our teachers received a certificate from UNESCO as the first to be trained in Quality Assurance and Assessment in Anambra State.”
The college he disclosed offers various extra curricular programmes including:Character Education that focuses on moral values for a brighter future.
He also stated that the college is about to establish Leadership and Management Training Center in collaboration with the Chartered Management Institute, UK. , that will give the students in senior classes the golden opportunity to be trained and receive a certificate before leaving the college.
The students revealed , are already benefitting from technical training, producing high-quality products such as Heerey perfumes, car wash, and hand wash.
Fr. Nwadimkpa commended Archbishop Valerian Okeke for his unwavering support, making their success story a reality.
