The Immaculate Heart Parish in Onitsha South witnessed a grand celebration over the weekend as it marked its 70th anniversary.
The event, which drew parishioners, political leaders, and community members, was a blend of religious observance and political dialogue, centered around gratitude, reflection, and a call for continued development in Anambra State.
The ceremony began with a thanksgiving Mass led by Most Reverend Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke, during which several children received the sacrament of confirmation.
Fielding questions from newsmen, Prince Jerry Emeka Asoanya, the immediate past Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government, Anambra State extended his appreciation for the pastoral visit and the day’s spiritual blessings, describing the favorable weather as “a sign of divine presence.”
Asoanya delivered a congratulatory message from the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa Esq, recognizing the historical and spiritual legacy of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, which has given birth to several other parishes across the region.
He urged the community to hold fast to the teachings of the Church, emphasizing peace, love, and righteousness as foundational principles for societal growth.
On the other hand, Asoanya praised the Governor’s achievements in security, education, and infrastructural development across Anambra State, calling on voters to ensure the continuity of his vision by supporting a second term.
Echoing these sentiments, the immediate past chairman APGA Onitsha South LGA Chief Ikechukwu Ezoba highlighted Soludo’s tangible contributions in Onitsha South, citing extensive road construction and the establishment of a new General Hospital as hallmarks of progress.
He emphasized that the current administration has delivered beyond expectations and needs sustained support to complete ongoing projects.
Also the Chairman of the Party (APGA) in Onitsha South Local Government Area, Mr. Uche Crystal who lauded Governor Soludo’s leadership, describing him as a transformational figure for Anambra.
He reaffirmed the call for unity and continuity, expressing confidence in Soludo’s ability to lead the State toward greater heights.
The event concluded with a unified endorsement of Governor Soludo and the All Progressives Grand Alliance
They called for unity, continuity, and support for APGA in the upcoming elections.
