The Onitsha medium security correctional center was in festive mood early today as a Hungarian humanitarian lady and missionary,Dr Reka Fodor arrived the facility to celebrate her birthday.
On her arrival in company of her daughter, son-in-law,priests,religious and other dignitaries,the entire atmosphere erupted in joy and happiness as the inmates ushered her and her entourage into the facility with a cultural dance as Dr Reka and others took joyous dance steps.
Dr Reka Fodor is not a stranger to the Correctional Center as she had visited severally during Archbishop Valerian Okeke’s pastoral visits.
To celebrate her birthday,Dr Reka provided many coolers of jollof rice cooked with a cow,cartons of soft drinks and bags of sachet water.She promised to provide one more live cow.
The Onitsha Archdiocesan Vice Chancellor Rev Fr Basil Ekwunife in his remarks eulogized Dr Reka Fodor saying that she has done a lot not only for the Archdiocese but for the less privileged in general.
Others who expressed gratitude to Dr Reka include the Catholic chaplain of the centre Rev Fr Nnamdi Okpalaugo,and the Deputy Comptroller of the centre Mr Michael Benson Anugwa.The Chief Executive Officer of St Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital Rev Fr Izunna Okonkwo and Rector of the Nursing School,Rev Fr Nwanze were on the entourage.
Reka Fodor was entertained with a novelty football match and a cultural dance by the inmates.
The excited celebrant danced to the tune of the cultural dance to the delight of the inmates.
