Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has encouraged Anambra indigenes who own businesses in Lagos State to consider investing in their home state. During a town hall meeting with Anambra residents in Lagos State, Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of investing in their homeland.
“Your host will never respect you if you don’t have a livable and prosperous homeland,” said Governor Soludo, urging the attendees to contribute to the growth of Anambra State through investment.
Governor Soludo’s statement comes amid controversy surrounding the demolition of 17 shops at Alaba International Market in Lagos State’s Ojo Local Government Area. The Lagos State Government cited the buildings’ physical distress and the potential risk to the lives of business owners and neighboring structures as reasons for the demolition.
Speculations have arisen that the demolition was a punitive measure against the Igbos, who are a significant population in the market, allegedly in response to their voting patterns in the recent governorship election on March 18.
