Rev. Fr Dr John Ezechukwu Manafa, the esteemed Parish Priest of Saint Jerome’s Parish in Obosi, Anambra State, has achieved a significant academic milestone by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Business Administration from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. This accomplishment underlines his dedication to both spiritual leadership and academic excellence.
Fr Dr Manafa’s journey in the priesthood began over a decade ago. In 2014, he was appointed as the Parish Priest of Saint Dominic Catholic Church, Abatete, by Archbishop Valerian Okeke of Onitsha Archdiocese. He also held the position of the Parochial School, where he also held the position of Chaplain of the Diocesan Laity. Prior to this, he served as the Parish Priest of St. Gabriel’s Parish in Umunachi. More so, over the years, he has served in various capacities within the Archdiocese, including his role as the Anambra State Chaplain for the Catholic Mobile Security Organization (C.M.S.O.).
Fr Dr Manafa’s commitment to education is further reflected in his family’s achievements. His sister, Rev. Sr Dr Mary Fausta Uche Manafa, was elected as the Superior General of the Institute of the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus in 2021. She holds a doctoral degree in Sociology of Education and has an extensive background in educational leadership
Throughout his ministry, Father Manafa has been recognized for his commitment to the Catholic faithful and the broader community. In 2015, he celebrated the 10th anniversary of his priesthood, marking a decade of dedicated service in the Lord’s vineyard. His recent academic achievement not only enhances his personal credentials but also enriches his contributions to the Church and the society at large. His unique blend of theological and business acumen positions him to offer valuable insights into the administration of church affairs and community development initiatives.
The Catholic community in Onitsha Archdiocese and beyond celebrates Fr Dr Manafa’s accomplishment, recognizing it as a reflection of the harmonious integration of faith and reason in his being.
