Encomiums poured in on Sunday, May 18, 2025, as Catechist Innocent Obidike of St. Anthony’s of Padua Parish Nkpor celebrated his silver jubilee as a catechist. The colorful event, held at the parish premises, drew priests, religious individuals, dozens of catechists, and other guests.
Catechist Obidike expressed profound gratitude to his past and current parish priests for their support, encouragement, and guidance. He also thanked his family members, particularly his wife, Mrs. Felicia Ifeoma Obidike, for being supportive of his catechist ministry, describing her as a prayer warrior.
He testified that his 25 years of catechist work have not been easy, but God has blessed him with everything good. He added that his children are doing excellently well in their various endeavors, a testament to God’s favor.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emma Okoye, praised Catechist Obidike, describing him as a gift to the parish and the church. He highlighted Obidike’s sterling character, intelligence, and dedication to his duties, stating that his work as parish priest is made easier with Obidike’s support.
The Vice Chairman of the Parish Council, Mr. Emmanuel Mbamalu, described Catechist Obidike as a good teacher par excellence, saying the parish is lucky to have him. He prayed for God’s abundant blessings on Obidike.
Other speakers, including parishioner Chief John Iwuanyanwu and fellow catechist Moses Onele, described Obidike as dedicated, committed, and living an exemplary life worthy of emulation.
