The Parish Priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Vincent has discouraged parishioners from making themselves available, as tools in the hands of the devil. The priest who took this stand in the parish, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, leaned on the day’s readings Acts 20:28-38 and Jn.17:11-19, in disclosing that, though, the devil comes in human forms, he uses those who are available to him.
He told them that they become the lenses that the enemy can use to achieve his aims, of causing confusion and division, if they dispose themselves, like the son of perdition and some ministers.
“The devil has never come and said, ‘I am the devil.’” the clergyman told them. “I do not think he will ever come to tell you so. He works through us – we are the instruments through which he works – we are the mirrors and the lenses through which he sees the world, if we allow him to use us. He manifests himself through us, if we dispose ourselves.”
“If we remain as one undivided entity, the devil will not have any space to cause confusion and division among us. So, do not allow yourself to be used as an instrument of division. The scripture tells us that many will come in His Name to cause confusion. Some of us allow the devil to use them. Many pastors, many men of God, many priests today do not want to tell you need to hear. “
“They use this gospel of prosperity to cause so many confusion in the Body of Christ. They do not tell you the need for repentance. They do not want to tell you the need to be at right with God, to forgive one another, and to love one another. Instead, they are busy shouting, ‘you will not suffer in Jesus Name.’ and you are busy shouting, ‘Amen.’”
Fr. Vincent urged them to reach out to those who are struggling to make ends meets in their midst. He also implored them to carry one another along and to journey as one, so that they all will make heaven at the end.
