The parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Woliwo, Onitsha, Rev. Fr Hyginus Ogbonna, and members of his Catholic Men Organisation over the week successfully joined their contemporaries worldwide in celebrating Fathering Sunday, and the ceremony featured a special investiture of some fathers of the parish who have distinguished themselves in promoting the progress and growth of the parish.
The Fathering Sunday celebration, which was organised by the parish and led by the president of the CMO, Mr Paschal Okeke, and his lieutenants, began with a holy Mass during which Father Ogbonna advised Christians to repose absolute faith and trust in God, and pointed out that God never disappoints those who rely on Him for their problems.
Commenting on the celebration, Mr Okeke expressed happiness with the ceremony and urged those honoured to live up to the responsibility. Some of the awardees who spoke to the press after the Mass, including Sir Peter Madueke and Chief lkenna Ezeudoka, pledged more commitment to the service of God and humanity. Sir Madueke specifically expressed appreciation for the way the ceremony was celebrated.
Other recipients of the award of grand patron include Chief Sebastian Udemba (Omeluora), Hon. Emmanuel Udegbunam, Mr Godwin Okonkwo (Bishop), Chief Geoffrey Ogu and Mr Ethelbert Acho, amongst others.
