The Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria (CCRN) Sacred Heart Parish Odakpu, Onitsha chapter, led by Bro. Emmanuel Onyenwife, has celebrated its 50th year foundation anniversary. The ceremony, held at the parish, attracted dignitaries from across Anambra State and featured a fundraising event and awards to meritorious individuals.
The Regional Leader of the Catholic Renewal Movement of Nigeria, Bro. Emmanuel Onyenwife, stated that the 50th year foundation anniversary was an opportunity to thank God for His providence and express gratitude to members who have managed the affairs of the movement.
The Member representing Onitsha South 2 constituency, Hon. Jude Ifeanyi Umennajiego, described the CCRN as an integral part of the Catholic Church, contributing significantly to the spiritual revival of Nigerians and the propagation of the Gospel. He commended the efforts of CCRN members in spreading the Gospel.
The Secretary of the Planning Committee, Bro. Edwin Nnadi, who was one of the award recipients, noted that CCRN members have continued to educate Nigerians about the true God and the need to worship Him in truth and spirit. He highlighted the organization’s challenges, particularly in combating idol worship, and charged members not to relent in their duties.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Hyginus Zikora, the Parish Priest, underscored the importance of the CCRN in the Catholic Church during a special mass held to mark the anniversary.
The CCRN leadership emphasized the need to raise funds for the construction of a befitting secretariat and administrative vehicle, as well as to honor members who have contributed to the organization’s growth. The ceremony culminated in the cutting of the 50th anniversary cake.
