It was a joyous moment for pupils of Crowther Memorial Primary School,Onitsha and Omunwagboka Primary school all in thesame premises near the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha as Catholic mothers under the umbrella of Catholic Women Organisation,(CWO)of the Christ the King Ward B,GRA Onitsha extraction,paid a surprise visit to teachers and pupils of the school to celebrate the Mother’s Day with them last week.
The women led by their ward President Lady Stella Okafor,came with various cartons of biscuits,drinks,cheese balls and many other goodies and deposited to authorities of the school for welfare of the pupils.
The climax of the visit was that the members paid off the sum of N55,000 school levy of less privileged pupils at Omunwagboka primary school to the joy of the pupils and teachers.
Earlier at Crowther Memorial Primary School Onitsha,one of the ladies who didn’t want her name mentioned gave scholarship to six pupils who lost their mother until they complete their secondary school education.
Earlier while addressing the children,the President,lady Stella Okafor,enumerated the importance of mothers in the family and urged them to be good children,respect their mothers and fathers as well as bend down to learn their books so that they can be good citizens in the future.
Also advising the pupils,a top official of the group,Mrs Chinwe Nwaribe spoke on the special love mother’s have for their children and the need for children to reciprocate by being obedient and willing to help their parents at home.
The headmistress of the school, Mrs Chinwe Anyaora expressed gratitude to the visiting mothers,saying that they always have the children in mind and visited always.
Mrs Anyaroh thanked the Catholic mission of the Basilica of the most Holy Trinity especially Archbishop of Onitsha,most Rev Valerian Okeke
and Rector of the Basilica ,Monsignor Nwokedi Ezumezu.
Highlight on the visit was dancing singing and prayers with the pupils
