The Catholic diocese of Abakaliki is seeking prayers and divine intervention for the safe release of three Catholic nuns, a seminarian, and a driver who were abducted on October 5 in Imo state.
The vicar general of the Missionary Daughters of Mater Ecclesiae (MDME) in Nigeria, Sister Gloria Nnabuchi, identified the abductees as Sister Rosemary Ejiowokeoghere Osiowhemu, Sister Maria Ngozi Okoye, Sister Josephine Mary Chinyekwuo, seminarian Peter Eyakeno Sunday, and Awoke Emmanuel. The abductors have reportedly made ransom demands for their release.
Sister Gloria Nnabuchi, in an appeal for prayers, shared the distressing details of the abduction, stating that the victims were on their way to Mbano, Imo State, for a burial when they were taken. The Missionary Daughters of Mater Ecclesiae, along with the wider Catholic community, is urging people of goodwill to join in prayer and to provide any vital information that could contribute to their safe return.
