A deeply pious and popular faithful of the Archdiocese of Onitsha,Bro Ignatius Oragwuncha had on Monday,27th November 2023,donated his personal property to the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha.
The parcel of land which lies on about six plots in Onitsha,was a free will donation to the Archdiocese of Onitsha.
Archbishop Okeke who was physically present to receive the documents and bless the land was in company of the Onitsha Archdiocesan Chancellor Very Rev Fr Dr Prudentius Aroh,the Vice Chancellor Very Rev Fr Dr. Basil Ekwunife, and the Archbishop’s Secretary Very Rev Fr Emmanuel Onunkwo.
Others present are,the Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Monsignor Francis Nwokedi Ezumezu,Very Rev Fr Donald Uzoh,the Onitsha Archdiocesan Financial Administrator Very Rev Fr Philip Ibeneme among other priests.
Renowned Onitsha based legal practitioner Sir Ikenna Ekwerekwu was among top dignitaries and CMO members of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Trans Nkisi Layout who witnessed the reception and blessing ceremony.
Also bro Oragwuncha,his wife and children were present and witnessed when the Archbishop received the documents of the land and blessed it.
While handing over the documents to the Archbishop,Bro I G Oragwuncha said it pleases him to donate the land in fulfilment of his desire to contribute to evangelization and growth of the church.
According to him,he had the support of all members of his family to do the free will donation to the church after consulting them.
Also the same day, wife of the donor Mrs Lydia Ngozi Oragwuncha celebrated her golden jubilee birthday and was equally blessed by the Archbishop.There was a family group photograph with the Archbishop and his entourage and a happy birthday song for the celebrant by the Archbishop and others present.
The Archbishop blessed Bro I G Oragwuncha and the entire members of his family for the gift of the land saying that his generations to come will never lack the favour of God.The Archbishop had earlier prayed over the land and sprinkled Holy Water over the entire space.
Bro Oragwuncha thanked the Archbishop for accepting his offer.
