The parish priest and parishioners of Blessed Iwene Tansi parish, Iba Pope Awada last Friday begged the Executive governor of Anambra state, His Excellency Prof Chukwuma Soludo to construct their access road.
The parish priest Fr August Oburota who spoke to Trinitas Newspaper during the visit of the Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese His Grace Most Rev Valerian Okeke to his parish, expressed displeasure over bad state of the road that connected the Parish to major road, calling on the state governor to come to their rescue by constructing and tarring the road.
According to him, presence of state government is yet to be felt at the area, emphasizing that the current administration should change the narrative by developing the the area through road construction and provision of other amenities . He posited that if the government refused to build the road, it will multiply the sufferings of the residents of the area.
On the other hand, Fr Oburota thanked the Archbishop for visiting his parish not withstanding the poor state of roads he passed through to their parish.
A parishioner Engr Monday Anyigor who also spoke to the press opined that the need to give attention to Awada is sacrosanct. He appreciated the Chief Shepherd for visiting the their parish.
Also, Mrs Ifeoma Onwugharam ( CWO organiser Awada zone 1)Mr Ugochukwu Odunukwe and Lolo Njideka Odukwe in their similar contributions called on the state government to assist in developing the catholic community by building their roads. They also appreciated the Archbishop coming to their parish, describing it as an open door and blessings for the them. They praised the efforts of the parish priest Fr Obrota in transforming the parish, describing him as a good priest by every definition.
