The Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace Most Rev Valerian Okeke, has urged Christians to be missionaries of love in their communities.
The Archbishop made this call while delivering a homily during his pastoral visit to St Jerome’s parish Odume Obosi recently.
The Prelate emphasized the importance of love and compassion in spreading the Gospel message.
“As Christians, we are called to be missionaries of love, spreading the good news of God’s love to all people,” he said.
“We must show love, kindness, and compassion to everyone we meet, regardless of their background or faith.”
The Archbishop reminded the faithful that love is the greatest commandment, and it is the hallmark of a true Christian.
“Our love for one another is a reflection of our love for God,” he said.
“We must love one another as Christ loved us, even to the point of laying down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
Archbishop Okeke also urged the Christians to be agents of peace and reconciliation in their communities.
“Let us work towards building bridges of understanding and reconciliation, rather than walls of division and strife,” he said.
“We must strive to be peacemakers, promoting justice, equality, and fairness in all our dealings.”
In his closing remarks, he encouraged the faithful to put their faith into action, saying, “Let us go out and be missionaries of love, spreading the good news of God’s love to all people.”
