There’s a general atmosphere of mourning in the Archdiocese of Onitsha as the sad News of the death of the first Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha,Rev Monsignor Marius Chukwuemeka Obiagwu is announced.
He was said to have died during the week after a protracted illness.
Until his death,Monsignor Obiagwu was the Parish Priest of St Joseph Catholic Church,Odoakpu,Onitsha.
According to records,Monsignor Obiagwu was born on 28th April,1954.He hailed from Alor in Idemili South Local Govt Area of Anambra State.
He was ordained priest on 11th July,1981.
Obiagwu held many important offices in the Archdiocese which include,the Cathedral Administrator before it was elevated to a Basilica,lecturer at Iwene Tansi Seminary,Onitsha,Chaplain of Catholic doctors association Archdiocese of Onitsha and chairman,Onitsha Archdiocesan hospital management board.

He also held positions as a Parish Priest of Holy Spirit Parish Omagba,Vice Rector of St Paul’s Seminary Ukpor and chaplain,Sacred Heart league among many other offices.
