The Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of St Charles Borromeo Specialist hospital Onitsha Rev. Fr Dr Izunna Okonkwo, recently praised the efforts of the archbishop, who is giving huge financial and moral support to misson hospitals in Onitsha Archdiocese. He stated that the mission hospitals are waxing stronger in the area of primary health care provision and disclosed that almost a hundred percent of the patients who access Onitsha Archdiocesan mission hospitals on time smile home in good health, except some who may arrive at the hospitals in critical condition, some of whom are half dead or in a coma.
He maintained that the St Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital for instance through the support of the Archbishop has not relented in employing the services of the best medical experts in the world, including local and foreign surgeons, insisting that the hospital is the best place to access quality health care. He further posited that the visit of Pope St John Paul 11 to the hospital in 1982 has turned it into a miraculous healing centre where hopeless cases can be handled if the patient starts accessing medical services earlier enough. St Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital he said is changing the narrative about notion that hospital is a place for the sick and the dead, rather it is a home of hospitality where one can relax, ease off stress and get refreshed, hence a recreational center.
Other mission hospitals in the Archdiocese he said are receiving similar attention from the Archbishop.
