In an effort to bring primary health care delivery to the door steps of the citizens, Anambra state government is fine tuning plans to establish general hospitals in Okpoko and Fegge, Onitsha.
The commissioner for Housing Anambra state Hon. Engr. Paulinus Onyeka who disclosed the information to Trinitas correspondent, said that Prof Soludo’s led administration is touching every key sectors that will enhance and improve the welfare of the citizens and residents of the state.
He further disclosed that the state government has reached 75% planning stage in view of establishing the said hospitals.
The state government he revealed is currently upgrading three general hospitals in three senatorial zones to make them referral centres. The general hospital under renovations are Ekwulobia general hospital in South senatorial zone of the state, Enugwukwu general hospital in Anambra central senatorial zone and another one at Umueri in North senatorial zone of the state.
” By the next fiscal year, the state government may also take up another three general hospitals for renovation so that by the nearest future, residents of the state will have access to fantastic and well equipped hospitals very close to them inrespctive of where one is residing. In the area of security, the governor has done wonders especially in the South senatorial zone which was no go area before he came in.
The governor is also intervening in road infrastructure. So many roads in the state are receiving serous attention, ranging from construction, reconstruction, renovation to tarring. Good to note that state government has awarded contracts to the tune of two billion naira for intervention work at the various places erosion has cut off roads including Nnobi – Nkpor road, Onitsha – Owerri road which are federal roads. His mission is to save people from suffering as a result of bad roads. He also upgraded the commissioners quarters in Anambra state “.
Speaking on his ministry, commissioner stated that core mandate of housing ministry is to take up challenges concerning building infrastructure in the state, more especially as it affects the government and its parastatals.
” We have housing as the key ministry.We have also agency generating ideas for the usage of local materials for erecting buildings.
Since the inception of this administration, the governor has taken a bold step to see that infrastructural deficit is a thing of the past.
As matter of fact, work will soon begin at low cost housing at Isiagu. My ministry is open to public private partnership and that gives citizens the opportunity to partner with government in developing housing projects.
Once Anambra state Investment, promotion and protection Agency under studies the proposal and okay it, then the government can partner with such individual.
Under the social agenda of the governor we have the health and educational sector. In Onitsha , the government is upgrading Ugborimili primary school so that it will be housing Ugborimili Urban Secondary school as well.
This government believes in action and not making long speechs, ” he asserted.
