The Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) disclosed on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, that only five out of 16 registered political parties in Anambra have complied with the agency’s guidelines for out-of-home promotion and visual campaign by paying the N50 million campaign fee.
The agency made this disclosure during a press briefing convened by the Managing Director/CEO of ANSAA, Tony Odili Ujubuonu, at their office in Awka. According to the agency’s report, the parties that have been granted a campaign permit each and unrestricted access to the out-of-home campaign space across the state are the Young Progressive Party (YPP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The agency revealed that other registered parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), failed to comply with the guidelines as the deadline for payment of the campaign fee has elapsed. However, some of the remaining parties have opted for alternative campaign platforms such as social media, radio, or television, which the agency finds acceptable as long as they do not violate the out-of-home advertising laws in Anambra State.
However, ANSAA accused the APC of deliberately violating the law by engaging in unauthorized promotional activities without obtaining the mandatory campaign permit. The agency claimed that the APC has been erecting posters, branding vehicles, hoisting banners, and installing unapproved billboards at irregular sites without registered practitioners and due vetting from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
The agency also reported that the APC resorted to violence to obstruct an official ANSAA team on lawful assignment in Nri, Aniocha Local Government Area, and that the matter has been reported to the Nigerian police. ANSAA stated that it will continue to take all lawful steps necessary to uphold the integrity of its regulatory mandate.
The agency expressed dismay that the Anambra APC has fallen into the hands of individuals who opt to employ violence and disregard for the law in carrying out their politicking. “ANSAA has explored every civil and administrative channel to engage this political party. We are now fully within our legal rights to enforce compliance, and we shall do so with the professionalism that our agency is known for.”
The agency therefore called on all candidates in the upcoming election, their supporters, and the general public to avoid violence, provocation, and any form of unprecedented conduct as it relates to public promotion, advertising, and campaign.
