The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has issued a stern warning to anti-Biafra activists, particularly those residing in the diaspora, to steer clear of Biafra land, especially during the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election.
MASSOB also reassured residents of Anambra State that the Governorship Election scheduled for November 8 would proceed as planned.
In a statement released by MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, the group emphasized that significant underground efforts had been made to mobilize and sensitize the people of Anambra in preparation for the election.
‘We have gone a long way in mobilizing and sensitizing the people of Anambra State for this election. It must hold. We warn anti-Biafra elements, including those hiding in the diaspora and pretending to be pro-Biafra, to desist from causing trouble or attempting to disrupt the process,’ he said.
Madu condemned online directives from those he described as disgruntled and sponsored individuals in the diaspora, accusing them of weaponizing pro-Biafra activism to sow political instability in Igbo land.
He said those individuals were using the upcoming election as a tool to incite chaos and mislead the public under false pretences.
‘MASSOB will not allow such deceit to succeed. Time and again, during elections in the South East, these same elements push for sit-at-home orders, claiming they will help to actualize Biafra. But MASSOB has always countered and stopped them and this time will be no different.
‘We urge all anti-Biafra elements, especially those hiding abroad, to stay away from Biafra land now,’ he warned, disclosing that MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups were actively mobilizing to participate in the election and to support a competent and credible candidate with true Igbo blood.
This is even as MASSOB charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain focused and proceed without distractions in organizing the election.
‘Having critically examined the political, economic, religious, and social consequences of not conducting a credible election in Anambra State, we insist that the Governorship Election must be peaceful, inclusive, and credible,’ he said.
Madu further advised the people of Anambra State and all residents to exercise their fundamental and constitutional right to choose their next governor, warning that Anambra’s political space must not be left in a vacuum.
‘MASSOB’s position on the Anambra Governorship Election is anchored on the best interest of Ndigbo. We will not allow external forces to dictate our political or economic destiny. This stance does not in any way signify a derailment from the Biafra self-determination struggle,’ he said, urging the people to always place the collective interest of Ndigbo above the agenda of any individual or group.
