Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has unveiled a comprehensive plan for his second term, focusing on significant infrastructure development, technological advancement, and improved healthcare and youth empowerment.
His vision, announced ahead of the November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election, builds upon the achievements of his first term.
Key initiatives include the construction of three new smart cities Awka 2.0, Next Onitsha, and the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC) designed to stimulate economic growth and enhance sustainable urban living.
Healthcare improvements will center on a new Oncology Centre to address the rising cancer rates in Nigeria, and an expansion of the State’s telemedicine program to provide wider access to digital healthcare consultations.
Transportation infrastructure will be overhauled with the implementation of the Anambra Transport Master plan, encompassing a state-wide rail network, upgraded highways, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, and a digital ticketing system.
The Governor aims to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and boost productivity.
Anambra’s tourism sector will receive a boost with the development of Ogbunike Caves, Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls, and Agulu Lake into eco-tourism destinations.
This, alongside the upcoming Marriott Hotel in Awka, is expected to significantly benefit the hospitality and business tourism industries.
Finally, a comprehensive bursary scheme will provide educational support to Anambra students, ensuring accessibility for all. Soludo’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, described the plan as a “dramatic leap forward” in transforming Anambra into a leading State.
