Worried by diminishing standards in driving and buoyed by the need to increase efficiency in the process of acquiring driver’s licence, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing standards in certified driving schools and promoting greater efficiency and transparency in the driver’s license acquisition process.
The Command, in collaboration with the Driving School Proprietors Association of Anambra State, has produced banners listing the names of FRSC-certified driving schools to be displayed at all Driver’s Licence Centres across the state.
A press statement signed by RC Margaret B. Onabe, Sector Public Education Officer, FRSC, Anambra State Command, said under the leadership of the Anambra State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, the initiative was designed to achieve several key objectives, including: educating the public and prospective drivers on recognized and FRSC-approved driving schools; discouraging the patronage of unregistered or substandard driving schools, thereby enhancing compliance with the Driving School Standardization Programme (DSSP); reducing the incidence of fake or compromised training certificates by increasing visibility and awareness of legitimate training sources; and promoting accountability and professionalism within the driving school sector in Anambra State
‘With this initiative, the FRSC Anambra State Command aims to reinforce the integrity of the National Driver’s Licence Scheme (NDLS) and advance the Corps’ overall road safety objectives.
‘This effort is expected to contribute significantly to reducing road traffic crashes and promoting safer roads across the state,’ the statement read.
