The Anambra State Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Chief Dr. George Moghalu (Ohamadike), has paid a strategic visit to the residence of the candidate of the party during the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, over the weekend.
Sources said the move was part of the final touches being made ahead of the official campaign flag-off.
The closed-door meeting signifies unity and alignment within the party as the 2025 governorship race intensifies.
In another development, Dr. Moghalu, has gained significant momentum as the Door-2-Door Grassroot Movement, a frontline political support group rooted in the legacy of the late Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, declared their full support for his candidacy.
The endorsement came during a strategic meeting held at Dr. Moghalu’s residence in Uruagu-Nnewi.
There, members of the movement regarded as one of the strongest grassroots structures in the state, pledged allegiance to his campaign.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Moghalu thanked them for their trust and solidarity, urging them to walk the journey to Agu Awka together.
“I am not just a politician. One thing you must know about me is that I stand by my words.
“I believe in trust; I believe in loyalty. Bring your commitment, and I assure you — I will not disappoint you.
“This is just the beginning. God, who has brought us this far, will surely take us to the end.
“Remember, it is God that makes kings,” he said.
He further assured the group that they would be fully integrated into his campaign structure, stating that every committed supporter would have a place in the campaign council.
The Founder and Convener of the Door-2-Door Movement, Hon. Bona Ogbonna, speaking on behalf of the political family of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, declared their full and unconditional endorsement of Dr. Moghalu.
Hon. Ogbonna said: “After reviewing his antecedents, leadership record, and unwavering commitment to the people, we are convinced that Chief Dr. George Moghalu is the right man for the job.
“As the political family of our late leader, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, we are united in this decision. We trust him with our future.”
The endorsement is seen as a significant shift in Anambra’s political landscape, with the powerful grassroots machinery once aligned with the late Senator Ubah now firmly backing Moghalu’s bid.
Meanwhile,Dr. George Moghalu and Mrs. Ify Okaro Campaign Organization, have taken a decisive and lawful stride in the 2025 governorship race by fulfilling the ₦50 million campaign permit fee mandated by the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA).
The payment was made at the ANSAA headquarters in Awka by the Director General of the Moghalu Okaro Campaign Organization, Sir. Arc. Okey Chukwuogo, who was warmly received by the Managing Director of ANSAA, Mr. Tony Ujubuonu.
With this action, the Labour Party has officially secured the green light to commence all outdoor campaign activities across the 21 local government areas of the state.
This includes posters, billboards, branded campaign vehicles, rallies, public address systems, and other approved publicity tools.
