Catholic faithful have been tasked to exhibit their true identity as bearers of Jesus, the Word of God at all times. Giving this task at the Mass he celebrated in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus, Sunday, 2nd June, 2024, the Vocations Director of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Rev Fr Istifanus Katung reminded Catholics that they are as the temples of the Holy Spirit are also transformed to Jesus which they receive at the Eucharist.
He lamented that some Catholics wear Christianity garments which they change the moment they step out of the Church, praying that God may continue to strengthen their faith in Him despite what they may be going through.His words, “When you receive the Eucharist, you become Jesus because you become a tabernacle carrying Jesus.
You are the Church. And so Church does not seize in this building. We are the temples of the Holy Spirit. It means you are carrying Jesus anywhere you enter.
That is why we are supposed to be compassionate. Be charitable to people. Be humble because by so doing, you are attracting people to Christ. The Catholic Church is rich but above all Jesus is richer.
He is the one we should follow.”Fr Katung told them that the Eucharist is meant to strengthen the unity among them through the instrumentality of the one cup they share – as they journey towards heaven. “We should be united. We should be strengthened because Jesus is the center of our lives
