No fewer than sixty-one Catholic graduating students were lauded for beating all odds to reach the end of their studies at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The Catholic Chaplain of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Very Rev Fr. Prof Peter Bauna Tanko gave this commendation at the Mass of Thanksgiving for the graduating students of Long Distant Learning (LVT) Program which he celebrated at the parish, Sunday, October 27, 2024.
He recalled how COVID-19 and prolonged ASUU strikes prolonged their academic activities and assured them of the glorious end that will make up for the inconveniences they encountered in the course of their academic pursuits.
Fr. Tanko reminded them that their certificates are only but earthly possession even as he charged them to remain focused on eternal life and to live exemplary lives that would lead others to Jesus.
He also inaugurated newly elected officials of the group upon whom he prayed God’s grace for accomplishment in line with set guidelines.
Earlier on Sunday, October 13, 2024, Our Lady’s sister faith community, Redemption Chapel, ABU also bid farewell to the graduating LVT students. There the honorees were charged to take their studies seriously so that their efforts may be rewarded with flying colours.
