The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly. Right Honorable Chukwuma Okoye, says the 2025 budget estimate presented before the lawmakers touches every facet of development in the state.
Speaking with Journalists in Awka after the Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, presented a draft estimate of 607 billion Naira before the House, the Deputy Speaker noted that the budget served as a road map to economic growth of Anambra State.
According to him, the 2025 budget estimate would enhance infrastructural development and improve the quality of lives of the people when passed.
Right Honorable Okoye therefore urged the people to rally round the Governor by supporting his vision of transforming the state, noting that it required collective responsibilities, as well as unwavering support.
Chief Okoye who represents Awka South Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, noted that the lawmakers would carefully and diligently scrutinize the budget to ensure that it was inclusive, equitable and reflective of the needs and aspirations of the people.
He said that every Ministry, Department and Agency, would be thoroughly assessed and evaluated with utmost care to ensure that no aspect of governance was overlooked and that every kobo made to work for the overall interest of the residents of the state.
‘Let us work together to make this the shining Light of the Nation. With this budget and the collective effort of Ndi Anambra, we are well on the way of achieving remarkable milestones for our state. I urge everybody to keep supporting the vision of the governor and pray that Anambra will succeed.’
The lawmaker while noting that security was a critical concern to him as a representative of part of the state capital, said the Soludo led government had made significant strides towards curbing insecurity across the state.
Chief Okoye said the 2025 budget estimate also reflected the commitment of the present administration in enhancing security through targeted investment in technology, community engagement and strengthening the capability of relevant security agencies.
He promised that the State House of Assembly would continue to support policies and initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and order within the state.
This, he said, was essentially important, especially as the yuletide season approached, when many families and businesses experienced high volume of activities.
‘The government is working tirelessly to ensure that the state is secured. I therefore encourage every citizen to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities promptly; together we can ensure a peaceful and joyous festive season. And we all know that security is for everybody and not for one person. When you see something and say something, that is when the security agencies can help us in curbing crime so that Anambra people can sleep with their two eyes closed,’ the Deputy Speaker added.
